Before we move on to Christmas, I want to make sure I take the time to reflect on things that I am grateful for. It is easy to be negative and to dwell on all of the pains and frustrations in this life, but I want to make sure I am reminding myself of the good things.
I am grateful to be alive
I know this is kind of a “bland” and typical thing to say, but I really am grateful that I am still here, breathing and alive. It really should cause us to pause and experience a profound sense of gratitude. We are not guaranteed any amount of time on this earth and no matter how bad things get, I want to remember that life is a miracle and every breath that I get is a gift.
Opportunities to learn
I am grateful for the opportunity to learn new things. I was able to attend a Cloud bootcamp over the last 6 months that challenged me and stretched me in ways that I haven’t been challenged in a long time. Knowledge is powerful and can unlock doors in life and I am incredibly grateful to those who have taught me new skills and ideas this year.
Technology to Connect
As bad as it can be (and it can get ugly), I am still grateful for the technology to connect with others. I know that human connection is much more multidimensional than what we are able to achieve through social media, but I have expanded my network and connections in new ways through technology as well as reconnected and rekindled past relationships. When used well, the internet can actually do some good and contribute in some ways to strengthening human bonds and I am grateful for that.
So, there are three things I am grateful for: I am thankful for life, the opportunity to learn, and technology that allows me to connect with others. These are just a few of the many things I am grateful for this year. As we head into Thanksgiving, let us all remember the good in our lives and be thankful for what we have been given.
