My Background
So, my background is actually not in software at all. From 2008-2018 I was a full-time pastor in local church settings. Despite this, I have always done quite a bit with technology. I took web design classes during high-school, back in the early 2000s, working with HTML, Flash, and Dreamweaver. I have tinkered with lots of different types of hardware as well, building my own computers, setting up home networks, and recording musicians in makeshift homestudios. I have always been fascinated by technology and especially with how the internet works.
I have always wanted to do more with coding, web development, and general IT work but didn’t get the chance until about 2 years ago. I had left full-time ministry in 2018 to stay at home and care for my kids and support my wife, who runs Yarn and Chai. After my youngest was getting ready to start kindergarten in 2022, I decided to devote my extra time to learning to code. I focused on Python and also honing my web development skills (HTML, CSS, and some Javascript). I also enrolled in a Cloud Systems Administration Bootcamp, that led me to the path of becoming a certified AWS Solutions Architect Associate. I have also been working on my AWS Developer Associate certification as well.
My big area that I have found a passion for is in iOS development. I love building apps that also have cloud components. I am hoping to continue to learn and have opportunities to build, but no matter what I will always be learning and growing and building. I am excited to see where this journey takes me and I am excited to share it with you.
